ABOUT THE WORK

Brendan Murphy’s Love Matters bear translates one of the most universal symbols of comfort, affection, and emotional connection into the artist’s distinct sculptural language.

In its seated pose, the bear appears calm, grounded, and quietly present. The rounded form creates an immediate sense of familiarity, while the polished surface gives the figure an iconic and distinctly sculptural presence.

Each work is individually hand-inscribed and embellished by the artist, extending Murphy’s visual language into a more intimate, collectible format.

Part of Love Matters Everywhere, this edition creates a direct connection between the monumental public work and the individual collector.

CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY

Each work is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity issued by Seven to Eight Gallery, an official gallery for Brendan Murphy.

The certificate confirms the authenticity of the work and includes the artist’s name, artwork title, year, medium, dimensions, and edition number where applicable, and is signed and embossed with the gallery seal.

GOOD TO KNOW

MATERIAL & FINISH CHARACTERISTICS

Brendan Murphy Collectibles are produced in carbon fiber and are individually hand-finished, including hand-painted detailing and artisanal surface work. As a result, subtle variations—such as micro-marks, tonal shifts, minor irregularities, or natural inconsistencies in chrome-plated or
matte-painted areas—are inherent to the fabrication process. These characteristics are not considered flaws; they reflect the handcrafted nature of the work and contribute to the individuality of each piece.

ABOUT COLLECTIBLES

Collectibles are limited-edition artworks created in small, carefully produced series.

They allow collectors to access sculptural works at a more approachable scale while preserving the rigor, craftsmanship, and conceptual identity of fine art. Each piece is individually finished, making every sculpture subtly distinct.

LIMITED EDITIONS EXPLAINED

In a limited edition, only a fixed number of artworks are ever produced. Once an edition is sold out, no further pieces are created. The edition number (e.g., 8/30) specifies the individual work and the total edition size. This ensures rarity, collectibility, and longterm integrity within the art market.

In addition to numbered editions, some artworks exist as “Unique Pieces” or “Unique Variants.” A Unique Piece refers to a one-of-a-kind artwork with no duplicates in the same colorway or finish. A Unique Variant shares the same sculptural form as other works but features a distinct hand-applied finish, colorway, or artist detailing that makes it singular within the broader series.

Artist Proofs (A.P.) are a small number of works outside the numbered edition—traditionally kept by the artist—and are equally authentic and collectible. A.P. numbers (such as AP 2/3) indicate the proof edition size but do not belong to the main numbered series.

DISPLAY & CARE

Handle the artwork with care—ideally using the gloves included. Chrome-plated and matte-painted surfaces are highly sensitive to friction and chemical agents.

Recommended:

• Use gloves when unboxing or repositioning the sculpture

• Avoid all cleaning products (including alcohol, solvents, polishing sprays)

• For chrome surfaces: use only a very soft, non-abrasive microfiber cloth, applied with the lightest touch

• Do not rub or polish; if necessary, gently blot

• Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, as UV exposure may subtly affect chrome tones or matte pigments over time

• Indoor display is strongly recommended to preserve the finish

• Playful placement is welcome—mindful handling is essential
